The Global Centre of Rail Excellence (GCRE) in South Wales is one of the most important and creative infrastructure propositions in European rail today.

When it opens in 2025, GCRE will be a world class site for testing rolling stock, infrastructure and innovative new technologies that will fill a strategic gap in rail, not just here in the UK but across Europe.

Backed by both the Welsh and UK Governments, the facility has attracted significant interest from across the rail industry and will be an international quality facility for innovation, research and development.

A key ambition for GCRE is for the facility to have a positive, long-term impact on the local and regional economy and the team is keen to work with businesses and suppliers in the area to develop an effective and sustainable supply chain.
